LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Dear readers,

As all you venerate habitants of Milan will know, Italy is no easy place to live – the gender gap report confirms this. Therefore the inspiration of this newsletter comes from the women who I’ve met and the aim is to make our lives easier.

As well as the usual features on our speaker and networking events, we have included and will continue to include external events promoting women in industry and of personal development opportunities in and around Milan.

We also intend to increase social awareness and women’s health issues. The first article deals with cervical cancer. I hope this will become a regular feature and I urge the readers to volunteer and send articles on other health problems that affect us and of any precautionary measures that you have discovered.

Whilst on the subject of volunteering, I would take advantage of your kind heartedness and ask you to contact me(editor@pwa-milan.org) if you’re interested in attending seminars in Milan and to write a brief article on the subject or to help me prepare a series of articles focusing on women in certain sectors.

This brings me on to the other two topics that I intend to include. One is living in Milan. This includes anything from interesting seminars (e.g. violence on women) to new or abused development/infrastructure projects in Milan.

The other is a series of articles focusing on women in industries where we are under represented. The first one will be Women in Law for which again I would appreciate your input or urge you to contact me if you are already in this profession and wish to assist me. Other sectors will follow.

I look forward to your comments and support.
