Bringing the Good Samaritan to Milan
Changing Italian law was never going to be easy but that's exactly what Cecilia Canepa and Bianca Massarelli did to get Siticibo off the ground. Siticibo is a non-profit organization that collects food from donor institutions and delivers it to organisations that feed the needy in Milan. Cecelia Canepa and Bianca Massarelli, co-founders, and Giuliana Malaguti, operations manager, told us the story of Siticibo's origins: how they succeeded in getting a law passed by the Italian parliament to create an organization that redistributes a ton of food every day, that would otherwise end up in the bin.

New Publication: Mentoring - A Powerful Tool For Women
Seventh in the EuropeanPWN Women@Work series, this book presents some of the most innovative and successful mentoring programmes currently in deployment in Europe. These programmes, which involve men and women in Amsterdam, Geneva, London, Madrid, Nice and Paris, were designed to foster the professional progress of women. Each contributor has experimented with all the different mentoring methods available and created their own unique approaches. In this book, they divulge their first-hand experiences, provide valuable insights, and share lessons learned. These are then brought together to create practical guidelines. Women@Work No. 7 aims to inspire mentees, mentors, program coordinators and managers of corporate talent to use the powerful tool of mentoring and make it their own. The book was edited by PWN France member Therese Torris.
The book is available at PWA events.

Success Story
I remember my first PWA meeting in the fall of 2002. I had been in Milan for almost 2 years and had suddenly realized that I didn’t like my life very much. I felt isolated and lonely. My job put me in contact with people outside of Milan, so my Italian colleague was my only source of companionship. The problem was that he had his own full life, so outside of office hours I was much pretty much at loose ends. I decided that I was going to make a concerted effort to construct a social life and, if that failed, I would start planning my move back to the states. PWA was the only group that I had heard of for English-speaking individuals; although I had heard of the association, I had never been. So of course I had fairly low expectations: PWA would instantly catapult me into a rich and rewarding social circle that would completely and immediately change my life.
